It’s not you, It’s the test
First things first – ‘we’ are not good at the theory test. Sorry!
Genuinely, It is not you. The issues include:
1) The wording is rubbish!
The questions are not neuro diverse friendly and are poorly written! We are trying to encourage change from the DVSA but for now we have to work with what we have got.
2) ‘Revising what you haven’t learnt yet’ doesn’t make sense – imagine not going to school or college, then reading someone else’s revision and taking the test. Yet the common approach and the one encouraged by driving instructors is ‘Revise more’ or maybe ‘Read the Highway Code’. It doesn’t work!
3) Repeating failure without change – If you continue to do the same thing without change you will get the same results.
4) Instructors with poor understanding of theory and poor advice. Sadly Instructors are taught to revise without learning so they too often struggle to help their learners. – Because of this I work with some of the best instructors across the UK to deliver theory success.
5) It isn’t as easy as some suggest, and often those who pass wouldn’t pass again 2 weeks later. The theory should be about safer drivers not tick boxes.
6) The results are misleading. ‘Failing by 1’ can appear unlucky but always reveals a bigger issue.
The Theory Test Explained training by Chris Bensted is a unique approach to tackle these problems and help individuals achieve success.
